The success of the lawn service program almost always depends on the homeowners maintenance of the lawn between applications. There are several things to keep in mind to achieve the most benefits from a lawn service program. Correct mowing, proper watering and most of all ** if you notice any problems with your lawn, don't hesitate to contact us **.
Why do I need five regular applications during the growing season?
Most materials are effective for a period of about six weeks. There is no cure for weeds, insects and other lawn problems, only a good control with a regular program.
How can the square footage of my lawn differ between lawn services?
Lawn service is a very competitive business with many sales people selling on a commission basis. By short measuring your lawn, they can give you a cheaper price hoping to make the sale. This gives you a cheaper spray price but in turn, a short measured lawn does not receive the proper amount of applied material such as granular fertilizer, lime, grub control etc. We would be glad to explain how we arrived at your square footage.
Why do you post a sign after each application?
This is a state law. The sign must remain posted for 24 hours. It is the homeowners responsibility to remove the sign.
What can be done to control crabgrass?
Crabgrass is a real problem because one plant can produce up to 100,000 seeds, and these seeds can remain dormant but ready to germinate for 30 years or longer. Pre-emergents help, but the best way to stop germination is a thick, healthy lawn.
Can anything be done to keep moles out of my lawn?
Moles feed on grubs and other insects below the surface of your lawn. We have found that in dealing with moles, there are no absolutes. Sometimes eliminating their food supply helps, while at other times, it does not seem to make any difference. Many of our customers use traps with limited success, or there are companies that will trap them for you.
How should i water my lawn?
Water during daylight hours if at all possible. In hot, dry weather water once a week with at least one inch of water. A rain gauge set in your lawn is the best way to determine how long to water (light intermittent watering will increase lawn problems).
What is correct mowing?
Mow when grass is dry so clippings will be evenly dispersed. Returned clippings do not cause thatch build up, but recycles fertilizers and nutrients. We recommend setting your mower at the highest setting throughout the growing season. Sharpen your blade several times during the mowing season. Shredded grass will brown more at the tip.
Is there anything that will rid my lawn of wild violets?
Yes, the herbicide we use is Three-Way. Three-Way has proven very effective in the control of wild violets when used in a regular program.
